THE HISTORY OF IRENDELL
A LONG TIME AGO...
Throughout the history of ‘Stateron’ only men led the country. Until one day, the last male leader became ill. He only had one daughter and couldn’t have any more children because of his illness, which was a secret. A man who couldn’t get children anymore, was seen as weak.

Irene, the king’s daughter, was a very controversial woman with different ideas about ruling a country. She was against the fact that men had all the power and women had none. Because of her ideas and personality, she poisoned her father. She didn’t have any siblings, which meant she inherited all the wealth and power of her father.

CHANGES WERE MADE ...
Agriculture was the most important form of labor. Irene believed in a green and ecological country. That is why she wanted to beat other countries for the label of ‘Greenest Country’. Because of the fertile land, she could keep the trade alive and feed her inhabitants with fresh, healthy food. This also led to enough work for the men.

From mother to daughter, arts and crafts were passed on. The only thing they were allowed to do besides taking care of the household, were arts and crafts. They gained expertise in this skill. As soon as Irene ruled the country, women were allowed to sell their arts and crafts and earn their own money.
Money leads to power. Arts and crafts were the power of the women in the country, which meant they had enough to rebel against men.

TO THIS DAY...

The queen and her women followers took over the country. Men must obey the new laws in order to keep their work and living situations.

This historical story had such a big impact on the inhabitants that they made the decision to change the original name of the country from ‘Stateron’ to ‘Irendell’. The name is a reference to their new queen, Irene, and to the fertile land of the country.
With this story the history is explained on how ‘Stateron’, ruled by men, became ‘Irendell’, ruled by women.
